A political ad funded by the super PAC of former President Donald Trump’s top allies, MAGA Inc., criticized Ohio Senate candidate Tim Ryan (D) for supporting giving stimulus checks to immigrants, even though Trump signed similar legislation into law.

The ad’s narrator says, “Tim Ryan voted the liberal party line 100% of the time. Giving stimulus checks to illegal immigrants.”

In March 2020, then-President Trump signed the CARES Act into law, a $2 trillion emergency spending package to relieve Americans in the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Part of this legislation included giving stimulus checks to eligible unauthorized immigrants.

This ad is part of MAGA Inc’s fresh round of spending for key Senate races in battleground states. According to CNN, the Republican super PAC is planning to pour tens of millions of dollars into ad buys for races in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Ohio between now and Election Day.

Tim Ryan currently serves as a U.S. representative from Ohio’s 13th district. He is facing “Hillbilly Elegy” author J.D. Vance (R) in the Ohio Senate race to determine who will hold Sen. Rob Portman’s (R) seat.
