Conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court justice will not seek reelection next year
Conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Bradley announced that she will not seek reelection next April.
Bradley was first appointed to the court by Gov. Scott Walker (R) in 2015, and Wisconsinites elected her to a full 10-year term in 2016.
In a statement, Bradley said she believes the way to “rebuild the conservative movement” will not be as a minority member on the court.

The conservatives lost their majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court in 2023, when liberal Justice Janet Protasiewicz defeated Dan Kelly for an open seat. The liberal retained their 4-3 majority in April, when Susan Crawford won the most expensive state Supreme Court race in U.S. history.
With Bradley out of the race, the liberal justices have a better opportunity to expand their majority, which is already guaranteed until 2028.
