Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey (R) is moving forward with a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood, claiming that the organization has been illegally transporting minors out of state to receive abortions.

The accusation relies on an edited video from a discredited and now-defunct right-wing media group Project Veritas. The lawsuit is being filed against a Planned Parenthood branch with clinics in Kansas City and Columbia, who claim the video is doctored. Project Veritas ceased operations last year after a series of scandals, and the company’s former CEO James O’Keefe is currently under investigation in New York for misuse of finances.

In a letter to Missouri’s director of the Joint Committee on Child Abuse, Bailey urged the use of “every legal tool to ensure that Planned Parenthood does not receive another dime of taxpayer funds.” The AG, who was appointed to his position in 2022 by Gov. Mike Parson (R), has taken several far-right positions on issues like gender-affirming care and firearms.
