Hartzler using Hawley’s Jan. 6 support for campaign fundraising

In a new campaign mailer for U.S. Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), paid for by her Senate campaign, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) declares, “Vicky is fighting for Election integrity.”

Despite leaning on some of his actions of Jan. 6, 2021, Hawley makes no mention of the right-wing mob which trampled their way into the U.S. Capitol senators were voting to certify Joe Biden’s win.

He brags that Hartzler, who is running to fill the Senate seat Roy Blunt is vacating, joined him in objecting to the certification of the 2020 presidential results because “she wasn’t going to stand by as the Left trampled over it to win the election.”

Hawley, who endorsed Hartzler in February, opens the letter claiming he has been called, “Traitor!”, “Seditionist!” and “Treasonous!” for being one of the six senators to object to the votes from some states.

The day after the Capitol attack, to which she vocally objected, Hartzler issued a press release detailing her objections to the results from Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan and Arizona. Her argument against certification was broadly based on false claims that “an electoral vote was not ‘regularly given’ and/or the elector was not ‘lawfully certified,’” in the state.

NBC News reported last year that former President Donald Trump and his allies had a “uniformly unsuccessful record before the Supreme Court” in multiple Big Lie cases based on similar rationales to Hartzler’s.

Hawley continues the campaign letter with some standard Republican talking points.

Hartzler is “fighting against Critical Race Theory,” he says, because “she understands how the Left is hijacking our child our educational system to turn our children against us.” And he notes Hartzler introduced an anti-CRT bill in the House.

CRT is a conceptual framework, usually taught at the collegiate level, for analyzing racial bias in institutions and policy.

Hartzler introduced House Resolution 4764 last July in a bid to “keep funding from ever being used within DOD schools to teach CRT.” No action has been taken on her bill since the day it was introduced

And she is, of course, battling the “Woke Mob” who is attempting to silence her by banning her Twitter account.

As previously reported by Heartland Signal, Hartzler released a transphobic ad attacking trans swimmer Lia Thomas. “Women’s sports are for women, not men pretending to be women,” Hartzler said.

That tweet got her account suspended for hate speech.

According to the conservative Trafalgar Group’s most recent polling, Hartzler is the current front runner in Missouri’s Senate race, beating out the former leader Eric Greitens by 0.6%.

Images of the mailer were given to Heartland Signal by a Democratic source, who provided them on condition of anonymity.
