Jobs at Heartland Signal

Heartland Signal is a digital newsroom and talk-radio network covering the state and local decisions that shape people’s lives — voting, health care, personal freedom, how tax dollars get spent. We’re growing, and we’re hiring journalists and staff who want to build something that matters.

We’re headquartered in Chicago, with a second station in Minneapolis and remote employees elsewhere in the U.S.

Why work here. We’re small enough that your work shows, and early enough that you can help shape what this newsroom becomes. We offer solid benefits — medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with matching, paid vacation, a professional development stipend, and an Employee Assistance Program — and we back our people to do meaningful work.

Current openings

  • Editor in chief — Remote (U.S.). Full-time. Lead our state-politics newsroom: edit daily, set the coverage agenda, and grow the team.
  • State politics reporter — Remote (U.S.). Full-time. Cover statehouses across the Midwest and beyond — online, on the radio, and on video.
