Wisconsin fake electors acknowledge Biden won the 2020 presidential election, partially settle lawsuit
On Wednesday, the 10 Wisconsin Republicans who attempted to submit paperwork falsely claiming that Donald Trump won the Midwestern state settled their lawsuit and acknowledged President Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election.
As a part of the settlement, the electors must make a public statement admitting that their paperwork was an attempt to undermine the will of voters of Wisconsin and overturn legitimate election results. The fake electors are also prohibited from serving as presidential electors in 2024 or any other election where Trump is on the ballot.
The state’s rightful electors filed the lawsuit in May 2022, and they continue a separate lawsuit against two attorneys who advised the fake electors, including Kenneth Chesebro. In October, Chesebro plead guilty to trying to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.
Similar lawsuits are pending against fake electors in Michigan and Georgia, while investigations are in process in Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.
