Michigan state Rep. Josh Schriver (R-Oxford) announced he is working on legislation that would ban pornography for everyone in the state if signed into law.
Schriver made the announcement in an X post on Wednesday, calling pornography a “scourge.”

Schriver’s office did not immediately respond to a request to clarify how such a bill, if passed into law, would be enforced. States like Texas, Florida and Arkansas have implemented similar laws requiring age verification to access certain adult websites, but Schriver implied restricting access to people of all ages.
“BAN PORN,” Schriver wrote on X in response to a MIRS article announcing his bill.
Last Tuesday, Schriver went viral after introducing a resolution condemning the 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court decision, which guaranteed the right to same-sex marriage nationwide. Schriver refused to take questions and looked visibly nervous during his announcement, which was delivered while state Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield), who is openly gay, sat directly in front of him.

Schriver has also voted against a measure to restrict child marriage, called for banning contraception and promoted the “Great Replacement Theory” on social media, garnering harsh criticism in his brief time in the Michigan Legislature. Schriver was first elected in 2022, and he represents Michigan’s 66th House District.
