David McCormick is preparing for another U.S. Senate run in Pennsylvania despite the fact that he lives in Connecticut, new reporting shows.

According to the Associated Press, the former hedge fund CEO is renting a $16 million mansion in Connecticut’s Gold Coast, one of the wealthiest areas in the country. Although he does own a home in Pittsburgh, it does not seem to be his primary residence.

When running for the Senate last year, his primary opponents had already accused him of carpetbagging once it was revealed he had been living in Connecticut since 2005 until right before he launched his campaign. He also repeated claims of being a “lifelong Pennsylvanian” and a “lifelong PA hunter” despite his residency filings and there being no records of him having a Pennsylvania hunting license.

McCormick owning multiple homes outside of Pennsylvania is similar to his former primary opponent Dr. Mehmet Oz, who many routinely criticized for not living in Pennsylvania but rather New Jersey. Oz defeated McCormick after the former daytime television host won an endorsement from former President Donald Trump. Sen. John Fetterman (D), who defeated Oz in the general election last year, mocked McCormick with an edited video posted to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday saying, “That m***** f***** is not a PA resident.”

McCormick has also been trying to associate himself with working class values, despite outsourcing jobs, teaching other companies how to outsource jobs and advocating for privatizing Social Security in the past.

Even though he failed to win the Republican primary in 2022, McCormick is thought of as the frontrunner for the GOP in 2024. The Pennsylvania Senate race could be pivotal in determining which party holds a majority in the Senate. The seat is currently held by Sen. Bob Casey (D), who will be seeking his fourth term next year.
