Texas Gov. Greg Abbott gets duped by a fake Liam Neeson Twitter account

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) was ridiculed Wednesday after engaging in an X (formerly Twitter) feud with a fake Liam Neeson account.

On Tuesday, the X account “Liam Nissan” (@theliamnissan) posted a screenshot of an exchange he had with Abbott on the social media platform. The parody account (labeled twice as such in the profile) made a post criticizing Republicans for wanting to build a border wall. Abbott sharply responded in a since deleted reply, where he seemed to think the account was owned by the real Liam Neeson.

“Another Hollywood Actor thinking they know what’s best for Texas,” Abbott replied. “Listen here Liam, make like an actor, and learn your role, and leave dealing with the border to me.”

Abbott has been at odds with Democrats over the U.S.-Mexico border and immigration policy since President Joe Biden took office in 2021. Last month, Abbott signed a series of bills making illegal immigration a state crime in Texas.
