While speaking to a group of voters in Columbus, Ohio, U.S. Republican Senate candidate Frank LaRose brought up his distaste for seat belt censors in cars while discussing government overreach.
When a constituent falsely claimed that Congress implemented a “kill switch” mandate for automobiles, LaRose agreed that government overreach like seat belt censors “goes too far.”
“Allowing the federal government to control your vehicle is a very bad idea,” LaRose said. “I mean, I don’t even like how automated a lot of things are in cars these days like the little bell that rings if you decide not to buckle your seat belt or whatever else. It just, it goes too far.”

LaRose currently serves as Ohio’s Secretary of State but is vying for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Sen. Sherrod Brown (D). On March 19, LaRose will face state Sen. Matt Dolan and the Donald Trump-backed businessman Bernie Moreno in the Ohio primary election.
