Ken Harbaugh, a former friend of Missouri GOP Senate candidate Eric Greitens, publicly called on the disgraced politician Wednesday to drop out of the race.
“What you’re doing now is not honorable, and it is not a reflection of the Eric I knew,” said Harbaugh in a video posted on Twitter. “Even if you do win, you’re going to lose more than you can imagine by campaigning like this.”
I have known @EricGreitens for 30 years. He is a broken man, who will do anything, including inciting violence, to regain power. He’s not the same person whose weddings I went to. Eric, drop out. Try to repair the damage you have done, to your family, your country, and yourself. pic.twitter.com/TA8DxzzSOF

Harbaugh is likely referring to the controversial political ad that Greitens posted last month, in which he called for Republicans to hunt down people who disagree with them.
The tweet also calls Greitens a “broken man” and calls for him to repair his family life. Greitens previously served as Missouri’s governor until numerous scandals, including spousal and child abuse, forced him to resign in 2018.
Harbaugh and Greitens met each other in college in the 1990s and would both become officers in the U.S. Navy. After their military careers, the two founded a nonprofit for veterans in St. Louis called The Mission Continues. Harbaugh also said he took out a loan to donate $5,000 to Greitens’ campaign, which he regrets doing.
In 2018, Harbaugh ran for office for Ohio’s 7th Congressional district seat, in which he won the Democratic primary for but lost in the general election.
After Harbaugh’s video was posted, Greitens’ campaign put out a fresh ad where the candidate brandishes a rifle and shoots at targets.
