Iowa state Sen. Adrian Dickey (R) is countersuing his daughter Korynn Husted for defamation and asking for $120,000 in damages for “false statements.”
Korynn Husted, her mother Shawna Husted and stepfather Allen Husted originally sued Sen. Dickey last month because he allegedly forged Korryn’s signature on an automobile title without her knowledge. Dickey claims that his daughter gave her permission to sign her name on the document, and Bleeding Heartland reported last week that he is opting to further escalate the dispute with a countersuit instead of settling out of court. A hearing is set to be held on Sept. 18.
Last year, Husted made a series of posts on TikTok accusing the senator of mental and emotional abuse. She also cut ties with her father after he voted to restrict LGBTQ rights (Husted is openly bisexual.) She also appears to have taken her stepfather’s last name; her social media pages use the “Husted” surname, but she is listed in the lawsuit under the “Dickey” surname.
“I had to cut my dad off,” Husted said in a video. “See, I’m a bisexual Pisces and he is a republican state senator who contributed to taking my rights as a woman away and the possibility of me being able to marry the girl of my dreams one day.”
Police arrested Dickey in July for interference with official acts after reportedly blocking a road during the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa and refusing to move despite an officer’s orders. The 49-year-old denied he did anything wrong and left the local jail after posting a $300 bail.
