Real estate agent Ryan Kelley, who ran for governor in Michigan in 2022, will plead guilty for a misdemeanor charge having to do with his involvement in the Jan. 6 attack at the U.S. Capitol.

Last June, the FBI raided Kelley’s house, arresting him and charging him with four misdemeanor counts. Two months later, Kelley finished in fourth place in Republican primary election and lost to businesswoman and now-podcast host Tudor Dixon. Dixon went on to lose in the general election to incumbent Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D).

Earlier this year, Kelley’s trial was ordered by a federal judge with a July 31 start date. However, the trial was vacated after Kelley’s team decided to guilty to one count of entering pr remaining in a restricted building without lawful authority. A plea agreement hearing is now scheduled for Kelley on July 27.

Kelley initially plead not guilty to all four charges and refused to identify himself in video footage from Jan. 6, 2021 at the Capitol. That video showed the 41-year-old climbing a scaffolding of Joe Biden inauguration stage and waved other rioters through. He could face up to six months in prison for his actions.
